Fespaco: an audit to reference Pan-African Cinema

Scope

Fespaco, the Pan-African Cinema Festival held in Ouagadougou, is a biennial festival featuring productions from all over the continent. It is also a promotion tool for African cinema, one that strengthens its position on the international market.

Strategy

Hopscotch Africa was chosen by the Burkina Faso Presidency in 2012 to carry out an audit on the Fespaco and propose strategic recommendations.

Results

We interviewed 30 stakeholders, we drew up a detailed analysis of the organisation and mapped the venue, we noted various approaches to optimise the biennial and increase its outreach to professionals and international media.
